Run Away Success at Cross Country for P6 and P7!
Spectacular running! 800 pupils competed from schools across the city at the Meadows EPSSA (Edinburgh Primary Schools Sports Association) Cross Country event on Monday 25th February, organised by our PE Specialist Beth Walker, with assistance from our Active Sports Co-ordinator Jonathan Wallace. Many thanks to Mrs Sally Nowell for escorting and officiating.
Sciennes pupils gave an excellent account of themselves.
Congratulations to Lucia Montgomery who achieved an outstanding second place in the P6 Girls' event and to Calum Newby who also achieved an outstanding second place position in the P6 Boys' event. Tom Ireland also ran extremely well. Elena Santoyo Brown powered across the course to gain a wonderful third place position in the P7 Girls' event and Struan Maclean led the Sciennes P7 Boys' team in 14th place. Amazingly 9 out of 10 of our P7 Boys were placed in the Top 50! P6 Girls also gave it their all, despite the muddy conditions and the cold!
Extremely well done to all our runners and the pupils in bold in each category will now compete in the EPSSA Cross Country Finals event at Duddingston on Monday 11th March. All competitors will receive an EPSSA Certificate.

Edinburgh University Music Project - P5, P6, P7
On Wednesday 20th February, nine classes were invited to take part in Edinburgh University Music Society's 'Schools Music Project' and set off through the Meadows in a convoy.
Grateful thanks to Community Relations Manager, Helen Scott, and all the members of the Edinburgh University Music Society who gave our P5, P6 and P7 children such a lively, entertaining and educational introduction to choir singing and to the instruments of an orchestra at the Reid Concert Hall (next to the McEwan Hall), including a special orchestral arrangement of a One Direction medley! A wonderful venue for an inspiring session.
