Swimathon Awards P4-7 2014

Thank you to all the parents who volunteered to assist poolside during our annual whole school Swimathon and to Fiona Denvir and Bethan McEwan for all their fantastic organisational efforts. Many of our children achieved personal bests and we congratulate Robert in P7C for setting a new school record of 42 and a half lengths. The PTA arranged for him to receive a specially engraved medal, presented by Fiona Denvir and Mr Scott at the P4-7 Upper School Assembly on Friday 23rd May, assisted by our P7 Sports Captains. P4 -P7 pupils who achieved Bronze, Silver and Gold medals can be seen in the slideshow below. Mr Scott gave a Special Award for most progress in swimming to Haseeb in P6B who is one of a group of children who have been taking lunchtime swimming sessions funded by the PTA. The PTA also funded medals for P1-3 pupils presented by Ms Anstruther during her Friday morning Assembly.

Hats Off to P5 Scottish Opera 2014

What a truly outstanding performance of "The Curse of the MacCabbra Opera House" by Primary Five pupils on Tuesday 13th May. The team from Scottish Opera yet again wove their magic, as only they can, with high energy, focus and lots of fun to choreograph the entire show in a single day. We are also grateful to musical director Roger who spent a day rehearsing the pupils vocally a few weeks ago. The children thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience and rose to the occasion superbly, inspired by the fantastic turnout. We were all so impressed with their confidence and enthusiasm, word perfect and in fine tune. A sterling job by Ms Owen,  Mrs Watson and Miss Stewardson in preparing them so well and thank you to all the families who came along to shout "Bravo!" and "Encore!" Miss Stewardson filmed the show, which will appear in due course. Meanwhile we are very grateful to former pupil Lucy Gogoliuk for her stunning photographs, published here with many more on the P5 Class Pages.

Well done, Danny! Edinburgh P7 Select Winning Football Squad

Danny, Edinburgh Select Squad A, front row second from left
We are excited to celebrate P7 pupil Danny Carson-Sangster' success as a player in the Edinburgh P7 Select 'A' Squad. The City of Edinburgh Council Sports Development Team took the team to their final tournament of the 2013/14 season on Wednesday 14th May. We were able to announce at Assembly on Friday that the squad finished FIRST with a huge 89 points total.

There were eight other regions competing over the last three tournament days including Glasgow, Aberdeen Dundee. Finishing in first place is a brilliant achievement for the Edinburgh P7 squad and we are all extremely proud of P7 pupil Danny's fantastic success at the tournament, and throughout the year as a member of this elite team. Very well done, Danny!
