City of Edinburgh Early Learning and Childcare Parent /Carer Survey-increase in hours-closing date 22/9
City of Edinburgh Council Communities and Families has received more than 800 responses to this survey so far. We wish to encourage as many parents/carers as possible to complete the
survey by the closing date on the 22nd of September.
The Scottish Government plans
to expand Early Learning and Childcare services to almost double the
number of funded hours from 600 currently to 1140 each year. These
extra hours will be available to all children aged 3 or 4 and for some
children aged 2 and will be in place by 2020/21. Families should have
choice and flexibility in how they use services - including whether they
use all of their child's funded hours and whether they use them during
school term-time or throughout the year.
By early learning and childcare, we mean all pre-school education such as nurseries, early years centres, childminders and playgroups.
City of Edinburgh Council is keen to maintain high quality early learning and childcare services as they change and expand, to make them work well for you and your family. To do this, we need your help so that we can plan for the future.
We want to find out what your experience of early learning and childcare is really like in Edinburgh - whether you use it or not, what you like and if there's anything you think could be changed or improved.
Please help us with this by taking some time to complete this City of Edinburgh Council survey. It should only take around ten minutes.

Scottish Government Survey of Parents and Carers
www.bit.ly/elc-survey
This Scottish Government survey is for parents and carers of children aged under 6. The survey isn't for childminders or other providers of early learning and childcare, unless in your capacity as a parent.
The survey asks about your use of and experiences of early learning and childcare (ELC) or what was commonly known as ‘pre-school education’. Children aged three and four, and some eligible two year olds, in Scotland are currently entitled to 600 hours of free early learning and childcare every year. The Scottish Government plans to expand this to 1140 hours per year by 2020. These government funded places are provided by a range of organisations such as nurseries, childminders, playgroups or family centres.
To help plan for the increase in free ELC hours, the Scottish Government is interested in hearing the views of parents and carers on how they use early learning and childcare at the moment, and how they might use this in the future.
